The way to speed up SEO results is to be strategic, which starts with understanding what you can and cannot control in the process. SEO can sometimes be excruciatingly slow to show its effect. If you want to see the value and the return of your SEO work, you need to know which methods actually shorten the time it takes to get results.

Why is it possible to speed SEO up?

To improve the efficiency of your digital marketing campaigns, the SEO work on your site has to be done properly in the first place. In this article we explain what to do, and what to watch for, to make your SEO work produce results faster.

Which keywords rank faster?

It is easier to rank for keywords with lower difficulty because they require fewer links and are less competitive. If you play your cards right, you can rank on the first page of Google faster than ever.

So if you need organic traffic quickly, choose your keywords wisely:

  • Target low-effort, high-reward keywords first.
  • Do in-depth keyword research.
  • Build your content around the most searched keywords wherever possible.

For keyword research you can use Keyword Planner, Semrush, Google Search Console, Ahrefs and Google Insight.

Why should you update low-performing content?

Instead of writing brand new content that can take time to be indexed in Google, try focusing on updating your low-performing content.

The advantage of updating existing content is that it is already indexed and you have data on what is working, which makes it faster than rewriting it or writing a new article from scratch.

You can do this by:

  • Adding new information or subheadings to your content.
  • Consolidating similar articles.
  • Running a SERP analysis and comparing your article with the best performing article for that keyword.

You can identify low-performing content using a tool like Google Search Console, and then plan which changes to make on which page.

seo and search engine optimization

In SEO terms, strategic internal links are one of the best ways to direct visitors and Google to the most important places on your site.

Internal links speed up your SEO because you do not make human visitors or Google search for your most important content; you put it in front of them. Highlighting lesser-known but valuable pages drives traffic to those pages quickly.

External links, on the other hand, show the references behind your content. Linking to well-known, high-traffic sites can improve the perceived quality of your content. Google says that linking to other websites is a good way to provide value to your users.

What matters in on-page SEO?

On-page SEO is the process of optimising blog posts and website pages to improve search rankings. It matters because small changes you make on a page can have a large impact on your rankings and traffic.

In on-page SEO, pay attention to:

  • Keyword usage
  • HTML heading tags (H1, H2 …)
  • Meta description
  • SEO-friendly URL structure
  • Internal and external links
  • Optimised images
  • Site speed and mobile compatibility

on-page seo work

Link building is often a slow process, but by fixing broken links on your site you can quickly regain that authority and traffic, sending visitors where you want them instead of to a 404 page.

Check your site periodically for broken pages. Once you spot a broken link, you can restore the page or redirect it to a suitable address.

All of these steps belong to the first stage of an SEO and GEO consulting engagement. If you would like to review the current state of your site together, get in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does SEO take to show results?
There is no single answer; it depends on the competition for the keyword, the current state of the site and the quality of the content. The way to shorten the timeline is to focus on what you can control: keyword selection, updating existing content, internal link structure and on-page work.
Why start with low-difficulty keywords?
Low-difficulty keywords require fewer links and face less competition, so ranking for them takes less time. When you need organic traffic quickly, in-depth keyword research that identifies low-effort, high-reward terms is a more efficient starting point than chasing the most competitive queries.
Is it faster to write new content or update old content?
Updating is usually faster. Existing content is already indexed and you have performance data, so you have a clearer idea of what works. Adding new information and subheadings, consolidating similar articles and running a SERP analysis are the core steps of that update.
